WILMINGTON, N.C. -- A woman is recovering from serious injuries after being attacked by a dog in Wilmington.

  • Police: Mary Hinson entered the home without permission.
  • Incident happened at home on on Spofford Circle.
  • All dogs from the home are currently at New Hanover County Animal Control.

It happened Wednesday at a home on Spofford Circle, which is off of Wrightsville Avenue.         

Police say 31-year-old Mary Hinson was left unconscious and with multiple bite wounds when she entered the home without permission from the home owner, who is currently in jail.      

Officers found multiple dogs inside the house which they say was in very poor condition.

All of the dogs are now in custody of New Hanover County Animal Control.

Hinson was last listed in stable condition at the hospital.
