MOREHEAD, N.C. -- The 60th annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament is in full swing in Morehead City.

  • J. Nettles, a high school junior from Charleston landed a 400 pound blue marlin
  • More than 150 boats hit the water Wednesday
  •  "Honey Hush" leads the tournament with a 518-point-five pound catch on Tuesday

Wednesday was a big day for a 16-year-old junior angler, who may have made Big Rock history.

J. Nettles, a high school junior from Charleston landed a 400 pound blue marlin.

Officials say Nettles may the first junior angler to ever bring a blue to the scales.

Nettles says it took him about 45 minutes to reel in the catch.

More than 150 boats hit the water Wednesday for their share of the multi-million dollar purse.

Right now, "Honey Hush" leads the tournament with a 518-point-five pound catch on Tuesday. The tournament runs through Saturday.
