Tuesday's high barely made it above 80 in Wilmington. Afternoon temperatures will return to near or above normal for the rest of this week and likely into next week as well.

After some early morning fog Wednesday, sunshine will break out into the afternoon. That will allow temperatures to warm to the mid and upper 80s. The warm and humid air will be favorable for at least a few showers and storms to form. Those should come to an end by evening.

We'll see a higher chance for showers and storms Thursday afternoon with highs in the mid 80s at our beaches to the low 90s inland.

Rain chances will be lower for Friday and the start of the weekend. We expect highs in the mid to upper 80s from Friday through Sunday.

Next week will likely be hotter. Inland highs could soar to the low and mid 90s by midweek.
