More rain?  Yes, more rain is possible Tuesday, but the showers and storms will be scattered in nature. Some parts of eastern North Carolina may see very little if any rain while others will be in for downpours.

The storms that develop in the area Tuesday should be as strong as some of the storms that produced wind damage in the area Monday.

Much of southeastern North Carolina saw at least one to two inches of rain Monday. Wilmington is now over 14 inches above normal for rainfall for the year making this the wettest year to date on record for the Port City.

Tuesday's clouds and scattered showers will keep temperatures cooler than the last several days. Highs will range from the upper 70s along the Outer Banks to the low 80s in southeastern North Carolina.

A warm front will quickly lift north of the region Wednesday bringing more sunshine and warmer temperatures for the rest of the week. Inland highs will return to the upper 80s and low 90s. Scattered afternoon storms could still pop up over the next few days.
