AUTRYVILLE, N.C. -- People in Sampson County are really excited about the work that's going on around the town's new fire station, after a tornado destroyed it last year.

  • Construction taking place for two months
  • No one killed and no major injuries in tornado
  • New fire station to be completed by end of the summer

The storm severely damaged two fire engines, and destroyed several mobile homes.

Remarkably, no one was killed and there were no major injuries. Officials say the people in the town have grown closer after what happened a year ago.

"And I think that's what the town and community have done, ome together. And surrounding communities have helped pick up the pieces," said Jessica Faircloth, the town clerk.

Autryville officials say they believe the new fire station will be completed by the end of the summer.
