ATLANTA -- NFL owners voted unanimously on Tuesday afternoon to allow the Carolina Panthers to be sold to David Tepper. This comes just five days after it was announced he'd reached an agreement to buy the Carolina Panthers,

  • David Tepper is worth $11 billion.
  • Tepper is a minority owner of the Steelers right now.
  • He is reportedly "commited" to keeping the team in Charlotte.

Tepper needed 75 percent of the owners to say “yes” at NFL meetings in Atlanta before receiving full approval to be the new owner. Receiving 100 percent of the vote, Tepper has been approved.

The price tag for the Panthers is just over $2.2 billion, which is a record amount for an NFL franchise.

Tepper says the Panthers will stay in Charlotte.

Tepper will have to sell his minority ownership in the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles expressed excitement about the announcement.
