Do you have what it takes to be a Tampa Bay Rowdies Jr. Reporter? The Rowdies are searching for Tampa Bay area kids who have a natural talent in front of the camera and a passion for sports.

  • Rowdies host inaugural junior reporter contest
  • Kids to learn how to report with the Rowdies over the summer
  • Applications sent to rowdiessoccer.com

Two children will be selected from the Rowdies inaugural Jr. Reporter contest to join the Rowdies media production department this summer.

“I believe it’s important for the Rowdies to be active in the community,” said Tampa Bay Rowdies Owner and CEO Bill Edwards. “This program will give local youth a head start in pursuing their dream of becoming a sports reporter.”

The Rowdies Jr. Reporters will gain valuable first-hand journalism and reporting experience by working with Rowdies staff on match day sideline reporting, local community events and player interviews. The program will require the children to research and write articles, report in videos and take photos for the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Kids must be between the ages of 8-12 to be consider, and must submit an application that includes an essay on why they want to be a Rowdies Jr. Reporter. They must also submit a video entry of themselves reporting on a Rowdies game or event.

The program runs from June 1 through Aug. 31. Today is the last day to submit your application.
