ELON, N.C. -- Elon University is set to break ground this summer on the "Inn at Elon."

• Hotel will have restaurant, ballroom, and conference center.
• Expected to open fall of 2019.
• Will be on North O'Kelly Avenue.

That's the tentative name for the 80-room hotel planned on the university's North O'Kelly Avenue.

The hotel will also have a restaurant, ballroom, and conference center the public can book to host weddings, reunions, and other events.

"There are more than 80 colleges and universities that have on-campus hotels to meet the same sort of clientel that we expect to serve here. Many people just love to visit colleges for the environment, concerts, plays, academic events, certainly sporting events," said Dan Anderson, Elon University’s vice president of university communications.

The university is not releasing the cost of the project, but says donations are footing the bill.

It's expected to open fall of 2019.
