RALEIGH, N.C. -- A child was hit along Brockton Drive off of New Hope Church Road Tuesday afternoon.

  • Car jerked back as child waited to get inside
  • Not sure if car was fully in park but parking brake on
  • Child received CT scan and other testing for internal bleeding

The father says his wife was getting into the car with their 3-year-old daughter to go pick up their son.

He says both the driver door and driver side backseat door were open when his wife got into the car to drop her bag off inside and turn the car on. That's when it jerked backwards and the door hit the little girl who was standing there to get in.

The father believes she may have ended up behind the wheel of the car and says he's not sure if the car hadn't fully been in park but says the parking brake was on.

The daughter had a CT scan as well as testing for internal bleeding at WakeMed.
