JACKSONVILLE, N.C. -- A story about a Jacksonville, Florida business warning about advertising is producing ire in Jacksonville, North Carolina.

Dozens of emails, telephone messages, Facebook comments and Google comments have been directed in anger to Jacksonville, N.C., officials.

The issue stemmed from a warning to Jaguar Power Sports, in Jacksonville, Florida, about military flags flying from the business. The business' owner posted a video that has been circulated several times. However, a story from the Jacksonville, Florida paper online does not indicate that the business is in Jacksonville, Florida, not Jacksonville, North Carolina.

Angry messages to the Jacksonville, City Council began to quickly roll in after 7 p.m. when the video was posted and was shared.

Phone calls were received in the City Manager’s office this morning and emails flowed to the City Council. Highly negative reviews and sharply worded messages also appeared on the City’s Facebook pages.

The city responded in a statement reading, "Jacksonville NC is proud of our military. Our Freedom Fountain is dedicated to all who pass through our community in service to their nation. A significant flag garden, with all the service flags, proudly connects the Freedom Fountain to the Lejeune Memorial gardens, where monuments funded in part by the local governments, memorialize those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and those who served."
