CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte businessman Felix Sabates will not be buying the Carolina Panthers.

After working for several months on putting together a local group to buy the team, Sabates says the price is too high and it would take too long for a return on the investment.

Last month, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league has seen an unprecedented amount of interest in the team.

Team owners could vote on a new owner as soon as May.
