WILMINGTON, N.C. -- A woman has been recharged after nearly 150 injured ducks were seized from her home last year.

Cynthia Huber, the woman who was previously housing the birds, was charged with nine counts of animal cruelty in December.

The charity that took them in, Skywatch Bird Rescue, was previously concerned those charges could be dropped, meaning they would be stuck with the medical bills.

"People have gone to jail for killing a single dog or cat. Let alone nearly starving to death 150 birds. It's unfathomable to me how someone could walk away without a single charge," said Amelia Mason with the charity.

The District Attorney’s Office says the case is still pending and Huber will appear in court in late April.
