We are in for another windy day Thursday. Gusts by late afternoon could reach up to 35mph across much of eastern North Carolina. The Crystal Coast and Outer Banks could experience gusts up to 40 or 45mph by evening.

Combine those strong gusts with low humidity around the region and the fire danger is high. If a fire were to break out in these conditions, it could spread rapidly. The North Carolina Forest Service and National Weather Service strongly discourage any outdoor burning Thursday.

Otherwise, the wind from the west and plenty of sunshine will make for a nice warm up through the day. After early morning lows in the 20s, temperatures should warm to the mid 60s around Wilmington and Jacksonville. The Crystal Coast and Outer Banks will see highs in the 50s.

Mostly sunny and dry weather will continue Friday with highs warming to near 70 around Wilmington.

Our next chance for rain will come with passing showers Saturday.
