NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. -- Investigators are trying to determine what cause a fire on Figure Eight Island on Wednesday afternoon.
It happened at an oceanfront home on South Beach Road.
Officials say about half of home was covered in smoke and flames when crews arrived.
Figure Eight Island is a private island with some of the most expensive real estate in New Hanover County.
According to property records, the home sold last November for $2 million.
