WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, N.C. -- Spring is right around the corner and soon Wrightsville Beach will be packed with tourists and parking will be limited.

Some people said they would like to see a bus route make its way to the strand. They feel it would help alleviate some of the traffic problems.

While they don’t offer service to Wrightsville Beach, Wave Transit does have a pilot program in Carolina Beach. Town officials said they spend $10,000 a year to make it happen and are seeing a big return on their investment. Wave Transit said right now, there are no immediate plans to bring buses to Wrightsville.

However, they are asking for public input with their latest survey.

“We need political support, public support and financial support. So, there are a lot of factors that play into adding new service. As it stands now, we haven’t identified a new funding source. If we were to add service we would have to take it away from somewhere else,” said Vanessa Lacer, Wave Transit.

If they find the demand is high enough, it could be a possibility in the future to add Wrightsville Beach bus service.
