The weather pattern bringing us the trend of record breaking high temperatures for many cities across North Carolina will continue as we head towards the weekend. Thursday brought another round of afternoon high temperatures that either tied or surpassed the record high for the day.

We could see record highs tied or broken both days this weekend. Highs around 80 are forecast through Sunday.

Our weather should remain dry into much of the weekend. There's a 30 percent chance for a few showers late Sunday. We'll see a higher chance for showers by Monday morning.

High temperatures will return to the 60s for the first half of next week in southeastern North Carolina. The Outer Banks could see highs in the 50s early next week.
