ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. -- Brand new laptops are on the way to Rockingham County Schools.

Teachers had to turn in their old ones after a malware attack infected hundreds of computers.

The district ordered almost 800 new Dell computers for teachers to replace the ones now in quarantine.

"We're really excited that they should be here hopefully in a couple weeks and we can get these out to our teachers because right now they are using some of the student Chromebooks and finding workarounds to be able to use that in their classroom," said Rockingham County Schools Superintendent Rodney Shotwell.

Each laptop cost about $500 for a total expenditure of over $600,000, but district leaders say they had some money saved up for this purchase.
