PENDER COUNTY, N.C. -- A Pender County deputy resigned just days before he was arrested for allegedly committing fraud.

Officials say 39-year-old Jordan Cullifer is charged with obtaining property under false pretenses in New Hanover County. He faces a similar charge in Burgaw.

Authorities say Cullifer purchased a TV from the Walmart in Porter's Neck last Wednesday. He then went back and claimed it had an older TV inside.

The used TV was then replaced with a new one. Officials say Cullifer then returned it to the Walmart in Burgaw for a full refund.

During exchanges, officials say Cullifer made it clear he was a Pender County deputy.
