TEXAS - A Texas company that sells beef stew meat to H-E-B is recalling nearly 5000 of product that may be contaminated with plastic or metal.

The boneless beef stew was produced by the Swift Beef Co. on Dec. 13 and was repackaged and sold at H-E-B.  H-E-B noticed the problem with the meat on Dec.  24.

  • The recalled products are beef stew meat trays that have separately wrapped vegetables. The trays are marked with the number 7231 on the side.
  • Various weight beef stew under the H-E-B brand as: Beef Stew Meat Tenderized RP, Beef Stew Meat RP, Beef Stew Meat VP, Beef Stew Meat-CR VP, Beef Stew Meat Tenderized VP, Beef Stew Meat CP, and Beef Stew Kit.

The recalled projects have the establishment number "EST. 3D" nest to the USDA mark of inspection, according to the USDA.

The beef was sold at H-E-B stores in Texas and have since been pulled from shelves.

The USDA has not gotten any reports of illness or injury from the tainted meat.
