After a very cold start to the day, high pressure set the stage for lots of sunshine on Wednesday but with lots of cold air over the region, daytime highs remain below average for early to mid December.

A weak disturbance will cross North Carolina tonight.  This will lead to a few clouds but with dry air in place, we'll see no precipitation.  With mostly clear skies overnight, we can expect cold overnight lows.  Another cold front will move through the state on Thursday.  It might produce a couple of clouds but, once again, no precipitation is expected.

Cooler air will build into the region by Thursday night and this will drop our temperatures again on Friday.

You can look forward to a slight "warm-up" by the weekend.
