WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The Port City and area beaches are seeing more visitors during the off-season. 

Over the last several years, hotel room occupancy in New Hanover County has increased for the month of December, rising more than 40 percent from 2015 to 2016. 

Now the visitors bureau is launching a new portion to an online tool to help visitors navigate the area. The SkyNav Convention District Tour gives folks an interactive tour of the convention district in downtown Wilmington, an area that's popular for meetings and events. 

"A lot of meeting planners do look at destinations like ours that have that high tourism appeal or visitor appeal, and they can also save some money in the shoulder seasons, which also helps us to build our revenue during the shoulder season," said Connie Nelson with Wilmington and Beaches Convention & Visitors Bureau.
