HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. – Authorities have released a 911 call from an Orange County pastor who stopped a break-in at his church by using his own gun.

Cory Bradshaw was supposed to be in court Monday for a bond hearing but that was cancelled.

The 38-year old is charged with felony breaking and entering into a house of worship and misdemeanor resisting a public officer after he allegedly broke into the Five Forks Baptist Church near Hillsborough last Thursday.

Pastor Austin Brown was inside with his gun. Authorities say Brown confronted Bradshaw and fired a warning shot.

Bradshaw then ran but Brown chased him and fired again at the getaway car, deflating a tire.

Brown called 911 to say what happened. He said it was never his intent to actually shoot Bradshaw.

Caller: “I walked in there and he ran to me I keep my gun with me and he ran at me and then he ran off. I pulled my gun out and he stopped and took off running. I fired a warning shot. And then he ran outside and I chased him and shot his tire. I didn't want to chase him.”

Deputies later caught Bradshaw not too far from the church.

Authorities said he made a full confession.

Right now, Brown isn't facing any charges.

Brown told Spectrum News that does have a new message for the suspect.

“I am praying for him and am working through the proper channels to try and set up a meeting with the burglar so that I can hopefully have an opportunity to share the gospel with him,” said Brown. “In a rapidly evolving situation as what happened on Thursday you do not have the luxury of time to ponder the situation. You never truly know how you will respond until that situation arises. Now that things have settled down, I hope to be able to minister to the burglar if the Lord allows the opportunity.”

Bradshaw’s bond remains at $10,000.
