BLADENBORO, N.C. -- Two men have been arrested after a robbery and assault occurred at a Fresh Foods IGA Grocery Store in Bladenboro on Friday morning.

According to the Bladen County Sheriff's Office, a Native American male entered the grocery store around 11:30 a.m., assaulted a clerk, and fled the store with a cash box.

The assailant was then seen getting into a small grey car.

A short time later the car was noticed by Bladenboro Police Chief Chris Hunt on N.C. 211. Hunt attempted to stop the car and a chase ensued. 

The suspect vehicle finally stopped off of Old Whiteville Road and the passenger fled on foot. Hunt was able to arrest of the driver.

Additional law enforcement resources were called in and a manhunt was conducted involving K9s and a helicopter.

At least one school in the area was placed on lockdown out of caution.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m. the second suspect was apprehended without incident about half a mile from where the search began.

The two suspects have been identified as Jordan Swett, 20 of Rowland, and Leroy Hardin, 19 of Lumberton. Both were taken to the Bladen County Detention Center and given secure bonds of $502,000 and $500,000 respectively.
