WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Wilmington police are searching for a man who tried to abduct a woman near the UNC-Wilmington campus.

It happened Thursday morning in the 500 block of Heidi Drive near Wood Dale Drive.

Police say the victim was walking down the street when a new model, dark grey, two-door Chevy pick-up pulled up behind her.

The victim told police she heard the truck's door slam and realized the suspect was right behind her.

She says the man grabbed her by the shoulder but she was able to kick the suspect and get away.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male between 30 and 35 years old. He was about 5 foot 7 inches tall with a mustache. The man was wearing a sweat shirt and jeans.

The victim told police the man spoke limited English.
