The weather should be great for outdoor plans across North Carolina this weekend! Sunny and dry conditions are forecast with warm afternoons.

High temperatures will top out in the upper 70s to near 80 for Friday and the weekend for much of the state. Morning lows will be in the 50s for most locations.

The mountains of western North Carolina will be a bit cooler with lows in the 40s and highs ranging from the mid 60s to low 70s.

There should still be some fall color to see in the mountains this weekend. The foliage was at its peak around Grandfather Mountain last weekend, but the color has been spreading to lower elevations this week.

Elevations around 3,500 to 5,000 feet should be near peak this weekend. Locations above 5,000 feet may have already lost much of their foliage.  Areas near Mount Pisgah, the Pisgah National Forest and Linville Falls should offer some of the best views over the next few days.

The next chance for rain across the state will come during the first half of next week as a front moves across the state. Central and eastern North Carolina will have to watch for a few storms with that front on Tuesday.
