RALEIGH, N.C. --- On Friday, Oct. 20, Capital Tonight's Tim Boyum will hosted a debate between Raleigh Mayoral Candidates, Nancy McFarlane and Charles Francis.

The debate, which aired exclusively on Spectrum News and live on SpectrumLocalNews.com, higlighted each candidate's visions for the future of Raleigh.

A brief summary of each candidate can be found below:

Nancy McFarlane:

  • Raleigh mayor since 2011. 
  • Has lived in Raleigh for over 35 years.
  • Endorsed by former Gov. Jim Hunt and N.C. AG Josh Stein.
  • Pharmacist and business owner.
  • Finds the escalating opioid crisis of high concern. Wants to work with the attorney general's office and DHHS to advocate for more ways to dispose of unused drugs.

Charles Francis

  • Former Raleigh city councilman and Raleigh Planning Commission member.
  • Raleigh native.
  • Endorsed by the Wake County Democratic Party and Paul Fitts, former Republican mayoral candidate.
  • Lawyer and business owner.
  • Finds current city management spending "frivolous". Advocates for responsible spending for city government.  

The debate will air Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 12:30 a.m., and Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
