Little change in the weather pattern means little change in the forecast. If you are going to be stuck with any type of weather, this is the weather you want to be stuck with unless you are dealing with dry conditions. A good part of central North Carolina is dry right now with several counties classified as experiencing a moderate drought.

Sunny, dry and comfortable conditions will continue through Sunday. The only change we will see is a gradual warm-up over the next few days. We will see Friday’s highs a couple degrees warmer than Thursday’s as afternoon temperatures climb into the upper 70s to near 80 are forecast for Friday through the weekend.

A cold front will bring our next chance for rain early next week. There has been some uncertainty among computer model forecasts on the exact timing of that frontal passage.

At this time, it appears a few showers and storms will be possible late Monday. However, Tuesday may bring the highest chance for rain.  A few strong storms could form when the front moves through the state.

While this will help our dry status, more rain is needed to get us out of the moderate drought conditions.
