Monday's cold front brought clouds and rain to central and eastern North Carolina through much of the day.  However, after another day of above average highs in the 80s Sunday, the front's most notable impact will be the colder air rushing in behind it.

This sudden return to more fall-like conditions may leave you scrambling to dig out jackets and sweaters from the back of your closet Tuesday morning.

By sunrise Tuesday, temperatures will drop to the 40s.  Despite picture-perfect sunny skies all day Tuesday, highs will warm to just the 60s.

Highs this time of year, typically warm to the low and mid 70s.

Wednesday morning will likely be the coldest morning of the week.  Lows will drop to around 40 degrees.  Some locations may drop into the mid to upper 30s, especially in rural areas across central and western North Carolina.  This will likely result in some patchy light frost early Wednesday morning in these areas.

A gradual warm-up is forecast for the second half of this week.  Highs will return to the upper 70s to near 80 by Friday and the upcoming weekend.
