NORTH CAROLINA -- Charlotte Douglas International Airport is the top major airport in North Carolina, according to a recent study by the American City Business Journals.

The publication used research from 43 of its national newsrooms as well as analysis provided by Wake Forest University's School of Business and statistics from the U.S. Department of Transportation to come up with its "Airports Power Rankings."

Charlotte Douglas International took the 25th spot, Raleigh Durham International came in 46th and Piedmont Triad International took the 75th spot, on the list of 89 airports.

The study took into account factors such as operating efficiency, revenue per employee, five year percent change of revenue and debt volume.

San Jose, Los Angeles and San Antonio took the top three spots, overall.
