CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. -- Strawberries, collards and watermelon are just a few products grown locally in Carteret County.

Now, one nonprofit organization is hard at work making sure you can find them.

The Carteret Local Food Network aims to promote the local food system in the area by connecting consumers directly to the farmers.

It’s an effect to build the local economy and relationships at the same time.

“When you get to know that farmer and see where your stuff is being grown, and if you actually drive out there, to me it makes a big difference. I think the relationship building is a really key part of it you can’t get from the grocery store,” said Jean Palmer-Moloney.
