WILMINGTON -- A Wilmington restaurant has partnered with a microgreens company to celebrate local farmers.
Every Sunday that celebration continues with a family style dinner where 10 percent of proceeds go to a charity.
Joe Choi and Nicholl Gleason started Wholesome Greens, LLC a year ago.
At the same time, PinPoint Restaurant was about to open in downtown Wilmington.
"Before we opened they stopped by the restaurant and we just started talking," said PinPoint Co-owner and Chef Dean Neff.
Neff was excited to find a source for microgreens and microherbs.
"It elevates the need for us to do something great with these ingredients because we know these people and the work that's going into it," said Neff.
Neff decided to start a Sunday Supper that celebrates farmers like Choi and Gleason.
"They're definitely one of our biggest customers and we're proud to be there for them," said Choi.
The Sunday Supper gives 10 percent of proceeds to a different charity each month.
For the month of March proceeds go to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
"We are definitely honored to be able to give back to the community, to be supportive of the community and grow the community which we've been so blessed in being part of," said Choi.
Both farmers and charity representatives will be at the Sunday Suppers, creating a family style exchange of tastes and information.
"Knowing the stories of the food are really important to give the guests at the restaurant and when we know where the food is coming from we work harder to present it in the most exciting ways too because we know the people that are growing it," said Neff.
The dinners will be served from 5 p.m. to 8p.m. every Sunday.
Tickets are $25 per person and $10 for kids ages 3 to 12.
Special seating is at 6:30p.m. with farmers and charity representatives.
