WILMINGTON- Hundreds of people, talented musicians, and all that jazz. The 36th annual North Carolina Jazz Festival took place in Wilmington this weekend, attracting guests and musicians from around the world.

The 3-day event featured dozens of jazz styles including gypsy jazz, piano bebop, and traditional jazz.

Musicians also held education workshops, teaching kids of all ages about the history of jazz in hopes to keep it alive.

"When we go to these elementary schools and the kids know who Louie Armstrong is, and what swing it-- that's a good feeling because it means we have a new generation of kids coming in to support this," said Jonathan Russell, a musician

Organizers say every year they have more and more young musicians performing in the festival.

They hope that number continues to grow.
