WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH—A surf camp for the visually impaired is underway at Wrightsville Beach.

Indojax Surf Charities is hosting the camp, which is made possible through the support of the Helen Keller Foundation and several other organizations. Surf instructor Shane Wall said it is a rewarding experience for both the participants and instructors.

"It's unbelievable what I have seen out at this camp. I've probably pushed a girl into maybe a four foot wave-- a 14-year-old last year. And I did not think she was going to make it. The wave exploded and she was just right ahead of it,” said Wall.

Indojax Surf Charities will hold a hearing impaired surf camp from July 27 through July 30.
