SOUTHPORT—Long Bay Custom Boats are highly specialized.

Darin Strickland says the boats are not made for waterskiing or riding, but simply made for catching fish. Not only are they made for fishing, the boats are made for fishing in extremely shallow water.

"They're flats boats, primarily grass boats, so you can pole in the grass or you can pole the flats,” said Strickland.

Water in the flats can be as shallow as 6 to 12 inches. Redfish, Drum and Flounder can be caught in those areas.
