SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. -- They're trailblazing women who led the charge in Hollywood, taking leading roles in many television and movies we have loved over the years. Now, Sally Struthers, Kim Coles, and Joyce Reehling are joining forces on the stage in a North Carolina production titled, Love, Loss, and What I Wore?

  • Two time Emmy award-winning actress Sally Struthers is known for her groundbreaking performance in the hit TV show All in the Family
  • Kim Coles is best known for her hilarious roles in the Fox series Living Single and In Living Color, and has continued to appear in film and television series over the years.
  • Joyce Reehling is also a veteran theater actor, who has appeared in television and film for years. But more recently, Reehling made Pinehurst, North Carolina, her home.

In Part 1 of our In Depth interview, Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair sat down with the iconic actresses for a look at the show, why they decided to take part, and their unique connections to the Tar Heel State.

Two time Emmy award-winning actress Sally Struthers is known for her groundbreaking performance in the hit TV show All in the Family.  However, in more recent years, she’s seen traveling the country performing live theater on stage. She says the unforgiving nature of live theater gives a rush like no other and shows the true range of an actor’s craft.

Kim Coles is best known for her hilarious roles in the Fox series Living Single and In Living Color, and has continued to appear in film and television series over the years. Yet, she too says she gets a thrill out of live theater and it was her connection to North Carolina that really drew her to the show. Her mother is from the state and she continues to have family in the area. She says she calls North Carolina her part-time home and is excited about this week's performances.

Joyce Reehling is also a veteran theater actor, who has appeared in television and film for years. But more recently, Reehling made Pinehurst, North Carolina, her home, so this performance is extra special to her. Instead of traveling to New York like they have the past 30 years to catch her performances, family and friends are getting the chance to see her at home in the Carolinas.

Following a successful 2.5 year run in New York, the show itself, Love, Loss, and What I Wore? was written by playwrights, Nora and Delia Ephron, the women behind When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, You’v Got Mail and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.  It uses clothing and accessories and the memories they create, to help tell funny but also important experiences that women remember throughout their lives.

If you would like to come and see Love, Loss, and What I Wore? it runs Thursday- Sunday at the Hannah Center Theatre at The O’Neal School (3300 Airport Road, Southern Pines, NC 28387).  For time and ticket information, visit their website
