RALEIGH, N.C. — Alex Garretson is a cashier at CVS Pharmacy store. But at night, the quirky and quiet Winston-Salem native is making people laugh on stage through his stand-up comedy routines.

Garretson decided to try his luck in the N.C. Funniest Comic competition at Goodnight’s Comedy Club in Raleigh.

Going head-to-head with more than 100 other amatuer comedians, Garretson made it to the final round, but as he explained to Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair, he was shocked to hear his name called as the 2018 winner.
