WILMINGTON -- UNC-Wilmington turned 70 years old on September 4.

Its first class had 238 students.

The university's chancellor is excited what the future holds for the Seahawks and North Carolinians.

"UNCW has made Wilmington a better place, has made North Carolina a better place and we are very eager to help make the world a better place; and so that in itself is very rewarding, it's exciting, it's fun and I want to be a part of it as we navigate towards the future,” said UNC-Wilmington chancellor Jose Sartarelli.

The Princeton Review ranked UNC-Wilmington as a best southeastern school in its 2018 list of "2018 Best Colleges: Region By Region."
