CHARLOTTE -- Charlotte high school students had a chance to put their legal knowledge to the test Tuesday during a mock trial at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse. Students from West Charlotte and Olympic High Schools participated in the event by taking on every role from judge to jury in the competition.

Local celebrity judges included Spectrum News Reporter Kirstin Garriss along with radio personality No Limit Larry of Power 98FM’s “The MorningMaddhouse,” Peter Thomas of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, WCNC News Anchor Fred Shropshire and NC State Senator Joel Ford.

The competition was organized by iSpeak Now, a non-profit which strives to help participants develop critical communication skills through interactive programs.
