CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA — Panthers tight end Greg Olsen was a full particpant in practice Thursday, fueling speculation he will play Sunday versus Washington.

  • Sunday the team plays Washington

Olsen hasn’t played since breaking a bone in his foot in the season opener against Dallas September 9, the same injury that cost Olsen all but seven games last season.

When asked if they would use Olsen cautiously should he play Sunday, Head Coach Ron Rivera said, “Well, we’ll try to. We’ll try to do the best we can with that, but sometimes we can’t help ourselves. You know a guy’s playing well or is a big part of what we do you want to get your best players out there and, you know, Greg is who he is for us on the football field.”

Olsen’s status for Sunday will become clearer on Friday. That’s when NFL teams list injured players as questionable, doubtful or out.

OTHER NOTES:

In other Panthers injury news, the team added receiver Damiere Byrd to the report. After being a full participant Wednesday, he did not practice Thursday due to a sore ankle. Rivera hopes it’s an injury that will not linger.

Everyone who did not practice Wednesday were full participants Thursday, except for linebackers Jared Norris (toe) and Andre Smith (hamstring).
