CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Panthers kicker Graham Gano kicked four field goals, including a 63-yarder with one second left, to lift Carolina to a 33-31 win over the New York Giants Sunday at Bank of America Stadium.

“That was madness. That’s the only word I can use to explain it,” said Gano, whose 63-yard kick ties the second longest in NFL history. “I just don’t think it’s hit me yet. I was going nuts. I think the first thing I saw was Mike (Palardy) reacting that it went in because I couldn’t really see over those giants in front of us – not the other team, just our offensive lineman. But I just have no words for it.”

The Panthers led 17-3 with 8:44 to go in the second quarter after a 25-yard first quarter touchdown pass to Curtis Samuel, his first of the season, and a Colin Jones fumble recovery in the end zone after the Giants muffed a punt.

New York cut it to 17-10 by halftime on a 57-yard flea flicker from Odell Beckham, Jr to Saquon Barkley.

It looked like The Panthers were in control by the fourth quarter when Cam Newton (21-35, 237 yards, 2 TD & 2 INT) connected with Christian McCaffrey on a 18-yard touchdown to take a 27-16 lead.

But the Giants got a 33-yard TD from Eli Manning to Beckham to cut the lead to three. And after a Panthers field goal, Barkley caught a 15-yard pass to give New York a 31-30 advantage with a minute and eight seconds left on the clock.

The Panthers drove 30-yards on 8 plays setting up Gano’s game-winning kick.

Carolina improves to 3-1 on the season and travel to Washington next Sunday, while the Giants fall to 1-4.
