DURHAM, N.C. -- The Duke Blue Devils will get an early jump on opening weekend of the college football season as they steal some of the "Friday Night Lights" from the high school kids.

They will host Army in their season opener. The Blue Devils enter 2018 after a strong finish to 2017 which saw them win their final three games of the season including a bowl victory over Northern Illinois.

Duke will be going for their seventh straight season opening victory during the Cutcliffe era.

They've got plenty of talent to work with this fall but the focus still needs to be at a high level especially on opening night.

Head Coach David Cutcliffe says, "We have no excuses as coaches because they have really done everything that we've asked them to do. We have some ability but I don't know many teams around the country that has ability alone to win football games. We've got to continue to work on being consistent and efficient. The opening opponent requires that you be efficient."
