OMAHA, NEBRASKA -- Severe weather has put a damper on the College World Series in Omaha as North Carolina continues their run towards a national championship.

  • UNC scheduled for 7 p.m. game Wednesday against Oregon State
  • First game started 3.5 hours after originally scheduled start
  • Wednesday night is an elimination game between Tar Heels and Beavers

North Carolina is scheduled for a 7 p.m. first pitch with Oregon State, but that is seeming more unlikely.

Today's first game got underway at just after 2:30 p.m. local time, that's 3.5 hours after the originally scheduled start.

NCAA officials talked about the factors that go in to delaying or postponing a game.

“I would say I’ve been involved with this championship now in 16 years in one capacity or another. And I think, obviously we’re only about halfway through the championship, and this has probably been one of the most challenging of all the College World Series’ I’ve been involved with related to inclement weather and dealing with it,” said NCAA Director of Championships and Alliances Randy Buhr.

Tonight is an elimination game between the Tar Heels and Beavers which means the winner keeps playing and the loser goes home. We'll have more updates tonight at 10 on the Chevrolet Sports Night.
