WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The AJGA Wyndham Invitational boasted some of the world top amateurs in its field this year. One of the biggest names in the group, Wake Forest commit Connor Creasy, will try to help the Deacs to a fourth national title next season.

  • Wake Forest commit Connor Creasy says Head Coach Jerry Haas was his determining factor in picking the school
  • Creasy won the Teen World Championships at Pinehurst when he was just 14
  • Creasy is a Virginia native

When he was just 14, Creasy won the Teen World Championships at Pinehurst, taking on 400 competitors from 30 different countries in 2015. The highly recruited Virginia native decided to commit the following year.

"I didn't really imagine it when I was growing up. It's hard because you're 15 years old and you're looking at all these schools, and you haven't even taken any hard classes in high school yet. It was difficult, but it was just the time, it was the time to make a decision," said Creasy.

Recruited by Florida State, Auburn and Clemson, Creasy picked Wake Forest, looking to Head Coach Jerry Haas as the deciding factor.

Creasy wants to join the likes of major winner Webb Simpson and FedEx Cup winner Bill Haas, two of the former 18 All-Americans that Jerry Haas has coached.

Creasy will be joining another highly ranked recruiting class in 2019. But before he gets to campus, there is one thing he really wants to improve.

"I'm just going to keep working on everything, [but] a lot on my mental game, you know, and working my way around golf courses. I've got the game, the mechanics, I just really got to manage my way around the golf course better and mentally just be more confident and focused," said Creasy.
