CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A big storm system continues to roll through the plains today. Ahead of that system in the southern plains and Lower Mississippi Valley, severe weather was widespread Friday into Saturday morning.

  • Here in our area, we will continue to have good shower chances today and tonight
  • Temperatures will be fairly mild, upper 50s in the piedmont and upper 40s in the mountains
  • Temperatures will then hold steady or even slowly rise overnight

On the northwest side of that system, another big, early-season snow event is unfolding from the northern plains into the Midwest.

Here in our area, we will continue to have good shower chances today and tonight as the system slowly approaches. Temperatures will be fairly mild, upper 50s in the piedmont and upper 40s in the mountains. Temperatures will then hold steady or even slowly rise overnight.

The cold front will work through our area tomorrow, so shower chances will end from west to east as Sunday rolls along. Sunday will be pretty warm as well with some 60s in the mountains and 70s in the piedmont.

Much colder air then returns by Tuesday and we will remain chilly through the end of the week.

Another system will approach by Saturday next weekend, and we will have to see how the cold air and moisture time out on that one.
