GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- The autopsy results have been released for Maddox Ritch. The 6-year-old was reported missing in September after being last seen in Rankin Lake Park. His body was found in a Gaston County creek.

PREVIOUSLY REPORTED: Body found in creek confirmed as Maddox Ritch

The results list the cause of death as a "probable drowning."

Ethanol and isopropanol were both found in his system, but this is believed to be the result of body decomposition. 

Authorities searched for six days before discovering his body in a creek. An AMBER Alert was active for several days before his body was found.
