CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Our area had some showers Sunday night into Monday morning ahead of a cold front, but that front is quickly sweeping east of the area. A breezy afternoon will then unfold with piedmont winds gusting over 25mph and mountain winds potentially reaching 50mph in gusts.

Those gusty winds out of the west will be ushering in a cold airmass. As that cold air is arriving, I do expect some snow showers in the mountains this afternoon and tonight, and the favored northwest-facing spots could wind up with a couple of inches of snow.

Look for plenty of sunshine Tuesday through Thursday, but it will be a cold mid-week period. Highs and lows will run well below the late November averages. In fact, some mountain spots will likely have sub-freezing highs Tuesday and Wednesday and the piedmont should remain in the 40s Wednesday in spite of full sun.

Our next storm system approaches Friday, but I think point, I expect the best rain chances to occur in the Saturday-Saturday night time period.
