Cool high pressure will yield a couple days of chilly, but sunny conditions through Thanksgiving. A cold shot of arctic air will trickle southward by late Thursday into Friday, leading to a cold day on Black Friday.

Expect sunshine and blue skies Wednesday with below average temperatures. Highs will warm into the mid and upper 50s across the Piedmont with 40s in the mountains. With skies remaining clear overnight, expect a cold start to Thanksgiving morning with lows back down into the low to mid 30s.

Plenty of sunshine will continue through Thanksgiving with chilly conditions. Highs will only manage to warm into the mid 50s in Charlotte with cooler weather the farther north you head as a cold airmass begins to take a dive southward thorough North Carolina beginning Thursday afternoon. As a dry back door cold front continues to plunge southward into Friday morning, expect temperatures to cool quickly, with subfreezing temperatures expected across the Piedmont to kick off Black Friday. Shoppers will need to bundle up! Many will be waking up to lows in the mid to upper 20s.

Clouds will increase late Friday ahead of a Gulf of Mexico system expected to move in Saturday. Rain will begin moving in Friday night with an icy mix possible in the mountains by early Saturday morning. Stay tuned!
