RALEIGH, N.C. – Multiple Raleigh families are without a home after a fire broke out at a townhouse on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard  Sunday night.

  • A fire brokeout at a townhouse south of downtown Raleigh Sunday night.
  • No injuries were reported.
  • The fire has been ruled accidental.

The fire started shortly before 9 p.m.

The division chief says more than two dozen firefighters responded to the scene and had the fire out within 15 minutes.

MLK Boulevard near Shaw University, and a major artery into downtown, had to be closed off during this time creating heavy congestion in southern Wake County.

Officials say eight people were in the house at the time of the fire but, luckily, no injuries were reported.

The fire has been ruled accidental.
