MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. -- Democrat Rachel Hunt is declaring victory in North Carolina's House District 103.

  • Democrat Rachel Hunt has claimed victory in the highly contested N.C. House District 103 race.
  • The margin between them right now is 67 votes. 
  • Brawley has not conceded yet.

She claims she beat Republican incumbent Bill Brawley by a margin of 67 votes.

In a statement, she wrote, “I am truly honored and humbled that the people of House District 103 have entrusted me to be their voice in the state House. I am ready to get to work on reinvesting in our public schools and raising teacher pay."

Brawley hasn't yet conceded. In a statement on his website, he said the state is re-evaluating 1600 ballots that Mecklenburg County has recommended for denial.

Hunt is the daughter of former NC governor Jim Hunt.
