After a day of record rainfall in Charlotte Thursday (and a stretch of gloomy days preceding that), we'll finally enjoy a stretch of dry days beginning Friday!

Rain-free conditions are expected to continue across central and western North Carolina at least through Thanksgiving.

The mountains woke up to light snow accumulations Friday morning, along with patchy black ice as temperatures dipped into the 20s overnight. Blustery winds will prevail through this morning across the high terrain before winds weaken by late Friday afternoon. Across the both the Piedmont and mountains, expect a day of sunshine... finally! While the sunshine returns, temperatures will still remain cooler than average as highs only manage to reach into the low to mid 50s.

Gear up for another cold night ahead, with lows cooling back down into the 20s to low/mid 30s.

Saturday into Sunday and even next week will feature plenty of sunshine and dry weather.

Look forward to a warming trend beginning this weekend with highs warming to near 60 by Sunday. A dry cold front will pass through the area Monday and bring a cool down Tuesday into the Thanksgiving. For now, Thanksgiving is looking beautiful, with sunshine and a high near 55!
